On Friday (July 11, 2008), Apple is launching a second-generation iPhone called the iPhone 3G. The base version of the new iPhone costs $199 — half of its predecessor. The advance version (higher-capacity)is now $299 — down from $499.
iPhone 3G is equipped with fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — phone, iPod, and a Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser.

Design

iPhone 3G looks almost exactly like the previous one. It has the same length and width, has the same thick, and has the same number and layout of buttons. The main difference is the back, which is now plastic instead of mostly metal and curved instead of flat.

Models

iPhone 3G comes in two models distinguished by storage capacity. Base version is 8 gigabytes and advance version is 16 gigabytes.

Features

The basic software is similar with the old one. The addition is the support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange by using Exchange ActiveSync service. The audio on the new iPhone has greatly improved.

The new iPhone and upgraded older iPhones also will be able to use a new Apple consumer service, MobileMe, which offers synchronized push email, calendars, photos and contacts.
